About Sagrario Cordero

Sagrario Cordero, MS., L.Ac, is a nationally, and State licensed acupuncturist who in 2002 graduated with her Master in Health Science in Chinese Medicine, at the Academy of Chinese Health and Culture Science in Oakland, California. She worked with the Academy’s Community Health Clinic serving a multicultural clientele that included homeless adults, people with severe mental illness and substance abuse problems, and geriatric and low-income patients. In her tenure at the Academy’s clinic she received consultation and supervision by native Chinese instructors who placed emphasis in a holistic treatment approach by combining Chinese herbal methods with traditional acupuncture.

Ms. Cordero trained with Dr. Michael Smith, MD, from the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA), in South Bronx, New York. In 1994, under his apprenticeship she received a Certification in Auricular Acupuncture Protocols for behavioral health, addictions, mental health and disaster and emotional trauma. She volunteered with NADA and provided acupuncture detoxification treatment to people on Court Probation who were in recovery from substance abuse.

Ms. Cordero has extensive experience treating muscular - skeletal pain, chronic pain, substance abuse, dermatology-skin disorders, emotional and psychological distress, specializing in anxiety and depression disorders.

Ms. Cordero is originally from Dominican Republic and is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is a volunteer acupuncturist at the Cancer Wellness House in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has a private practice in Salt Lake City and enjoys collaborating with colleagues and other health professionals in our community.  When not needling with her gentle touch, you may find her running at the Sugar House Park or trying a new recipe on family and friends.
